New Mountain Innovations has announced the launch of Sirenix, an advanced mosquito control trap designed to disrupt the mosquito life cycle using sound technology. Unlike traditional repellents and traps that simply push mosquitoes away or catch a few at a time, Sirenix addresses the root of the problem: mosquito reproduction.
The Sirenix system uses acoustic larvicide technology to mimic natural environmental cues and lure female mosquitoes to lay their eggs. Once inside, sound waves disrupt larval development, stopping mosquitoes before they can ever emerge and spread disease. This environmentally friendly approach eliminates the need for harmful chemicals, making Sirenix a safe and effective solution for backyards, neighborhoods, and municipalities alike.
“Mosquitoes are not only a nuisance, they are one of the world’s deadliest animals due to the diseases they transmit,” said Herbert Nyberg, President of New Mountain Innovations. “With Sirenix, we’re delivering a revolutionary technology that uses sound, something completely natural and chemical-free, to stop the next generation of mosquitoes before they take flight. Our mission is to give communities a safer, smarter way to protect themselves.”
Field testing has demonstrated that Sirenix effectively protects areas up to 4,000 square feet per unit, with additional traps expanding coverage for larger properties. Designed for ease of use, Sirenix provides lasting protection throughout the mosquito season without constant reapplication or maintenance.
With mosquito-borne illnesses like West Nile virus, dengue, and Zika continuing to pose public health threats, the launch of Sirenix marks a major step forward in sustainable mosquito control.
